Conducting our October 10th Concert:

MARK HIJLEH, Professor of Music at Houghton College, holds degrees in conducting and composition from the Peabody Conservatory and Ithaca College, where his teachers included Karel Husa. He also worked with Erich Leinsdorf, David Zinman, Jorge Mester, and Maurice Abravenel through conducting programs of the American Symphony Orchestra League. Hijleh has twice guest conducted the Rochester Philharmonic, and heard his Symphony #1 premiered by the Buffalo Philharmonic. From 1995-2005, he served as Music Director of the Houghton Philharmonia, and has also guest conducted the NYSSMA High School Area All-State Orchestra, the Genesee Symphony, the Liberty Symphony, and the Cornell University Savoyards. |
